My First Lesson!

The first lesson that I have taught. English. Primary 5. Comprehension. How's the feeling? Awesome. Am looking forward to teaching more. Although this class may be a tail-end class, they never failed to make me laugh, smile and play along with them. They were responsive to the questions I asked and everyone gave their input. I'm happy to see that they were ready to open up to me. They could understand the text and the question. But grammar is their killer. Given the chance, I would want to work on their grammar. This class has lots of potential to excel if they can grasp the concept of grammar. My CT wasn't around to supervise this lesson and I was left to myself. I feedback to her what I felt, and she was happy that I did well (though she didn't observe the lesson) because she said that a lesson is good, as long as the teacher and the students all feel happy at the end of it.

Well, this is only the beginning and I hope this passion will continue burning. I must thank those NIE Student Teachers with me for giving me input too. The group of 5 of us are all closely knitted. I guess I am lucky as all of us can get along, very well. I have heard of student teachers in other schools who hardly talk to each other. Time must pass by very slowly for them. Over here, time passes by so fast, I can hardly believe that the week is over.

Next Monday's Youth Day. School Holiday. Yippie. I can sleep till late. And I have no work this weekend too. Won't be meeting laogong as we both are broke. Haha. But we will be playing our game this weekend. A lot.

It's time to start lesson planning next week. I need to get my creative juices flowing.

Lesson Observations

I am so sleepy, I nearly fell asleep during the observation classes that I was in. Had to stop myself from yawning. Well, we have been going to various classes to observe the different methods teachers use to teach and of course classroom management and discipline. I have to agree that, what we learn in NIE is not at all what you see in schools. NIE paints a beautiful and optimissitc picture, but you've got to feel it, to understand the situation.

Marked a few books today because my CT wanted to see how I would mark. She's quite strict and really keeps a very close eye to everything I do. And she's inflexible. She goes by the book. Looks like there would be a very small room for me to do much.

Went to do my hair treatment today. She says that I am making progress. Showed me my new hair that has started growing already. Yippie! Haha. They keep emphasizing to me that oily hair is a strict no no! So to those who have oily hair, my advice is to wash more often. Do not clog up the pores on your scalp and prevent new hair growth.

Guess I will be sleeping pretty soon. Tired. Got to do a P5 English Class tomorrow. Comprehension. Sheekz! My first lesson. Wow. Hope to carry it out well.

Tired!

Yes, it is weighing down on me now. I am beginning to feel tired and sleepy and exhausted. Not mentally. Yet. Just physically because I have been on heels and standing and walking for long periods of time. I am usually in bed by 11pm nowadays.

Anyway, we attended the afternoon session today because we were told to observe the primary one SEED program today. I must admit that I have to give my thumbs up to the planning committee. It was well done and enjoyed by the students.

Am drained now. Shall update more next time.

Day 2 of Practicum

Chatted with another of my primary school teacher today. Mrs Ang. She is still the HOD for Mathematics. When I was under her last time, she was so fierce, everyone was scared of her. Now, going back with a different status, of staff and colleague, she is so sweet and is so happy to her that I still remember her.

Am bonding well with all the practicum teachers and I especially love to disturb Lakshimi. She is so bubbly and funny, that I can't help disturbing her, because she has a floating timetable, and ends at 5+pm while the rest of us end work at 1pm. But we all usually hang on a while, to accompany her for lunch till 2+pm before heading home. 5 of us are cramping into a small little area for our work space. Supposed to be 3, but the other 2 felt lonely sitting in one tinsy winsy cubicle and so we welcomed them to join us. Now when all 5 of us are in the staff room, we'll be yakking away.

So far, most of the teachers are friendly and are very pleased to hear that I was an ex-pupil there. They will tell me jokes among colleagues and such. Though I can feel the tight scrutiny of their eyes on us, they are still very willing to share with us. Luckily, I do not have to relief tomorrow for my CT. I will only relief her class this Friday, doing a comprehension. Slightly lower ability students, but I like their frankness and willingness to ask questions.

Saw one of my kidnergarten students in one of the classes that I am observing today. I guessed she recongized me because she smiled at me. Only when she smiled did I remember her. It's that sweet smile that she showed me too when it was my first day of work at the kidnergarten centre. She was then only in K1. Now, she's in primary 3. Wow. Time passes by very fast.

No need to wake up early for work tomorrow. We are excused from coming in in the morning as they wanted us to attend the afternoon program on the SEED learning. I hope it ends early and that we do not have to stay on till the flag lowering ceremony because I have piano class, which I rescheduled to 5.30pm and am hoping to meet laogong for dinner tomorrow.

First Day of School

First day of school. First day of practicum. Interesting and eye-opener. And definitely lots of knowledge to be learnt and experience to be gained. My CTs (Cooperating Tutors) are nice. Throughout the whole morning, I was following Belle (CT 1). This morning she and Mrs Chong did a swap with their form class. Belle walked into Mrs Chong's class and vice versa. The students were definitely in for a shock. Well, not only the students, but Belle too. The class was so quiet that hardly anyone participated. Belle couldn't take it. Later they swapped back their class. Belle felt happier and more at ease with her own class. They were more participative.

It's hard to describe the feeling when students bow to greet you. "Good morning, teacher" or "Good morning, Ms Yap". But it feels good when students respect and recognize you as a teacher. Having Maths tomorrow with CT 2, Sharon. Sharon's more strict with me but I don't mind because I know that she will supervise me well. Looking forward to a more open working relationship with her.

Belle is going away this coming Wednesday till next wednesday and has requested that I take over her Pri 5 English class using her lesson plan. Hmmm. Part of me is interested and keen to take that up. Yet I'm worried that I may not do as well. She will be discussing with me her lesson plan tomorrow to get feedback from me as to whether I can comfortable to teach. I guess I am willing to try it out. Hope it works out well. Both my CTs are definitely putting me to work soon. Got to stay back for the afternoon session too to see the Pri 1 and 2 in the SEED program. Long day ahead tomorrow, but the concept seems very interactive. Wonder how they use it.

Surprisingly, I am not very tired. I am very awake now and feel that my body is in momentum already. After school today, we went for lunch at Sakae Sushi, ala carte. Paid about $10 and had teriyaki chicken don and a plate of sushi. Wow the teriyaki chicken is good. Westmall Sakae Sushi has a nice ambience and we managed to get the sofa seating today! Yippie!

Alright, am gonna play my game now. Once work load gets into full swing, my play time will have to take a big cut so play now while I still can!

Headache

Having a headache again and am trying not to touch panadol to make it go away, but nothing seems to be working. When I get a headache, my eyes get all watery and I don't feel like doing anything. And that's why after going to the creative warehouse sale, we came home because I was having a headache and I didn't want to go out anymore. I guess if in another half hour time, it is still painful, I may just go and pop those panadols.

Bought a webcam for $19 at the creative warehouse sale. Things there are sure cheap. Speakers, mp3 players and so on. Wanted to buy those earphone with microphone, but didn't have enough money. I have to watch my spending. Hopefully, now that school is starting, my spending will decrease.

Talking about school, it starts tomorrow! Day One. Everyone of my NIE friends, going for practicum are definitely feeling nervous and the pressure. Will be meeting Wesley and Ridhwan at Bt Batok Station and we will go down together to give each other support. Strength in numbers and at least we wouldn't feel so lost.

Gonna sleep early tonight like about 11pm because of this headache and I have to get up at about 6am. It's been a long time since I woke up that early (well don't count Monday when I had to get up at 4am to get to Lavender to board the bus to Genting). I think I should be quite shag after school tomorrow and so I am planning to sleep in the afternoon.

Time flies pass fast. Holidays are over. My dream of teaching is reaching really near. Though I am not going to do much teaching during this practicum, but it is already one huge step forward.

Oh dear oh dear...

Damn! I seem to be putting on weight. Keep feeling fat ever since I was at genting and am feeling worse now. Must have eaten too much honeydew chocolate fondue there. Plus dinner, we had black pepper and chilli crabs tonight at Pasir Panjang and Sakae sushi tea buffet yesterday. Wonder if I can fit into my size M skirts now, after managing from XL to L to M. Shit!

I was printing my documents on my pixma MP500 printer just now. I am so irritated by it. Expensive printer with quite a crap set up. Feed is at the top and when the paper goes through and comes out, it is slanted. Laogong tells me that its the "in" thing now. I think this idea is totally crappy! Anyway was printing some guidelines for my CTs for my practicum. To those considering to buy printer, get those where you load the paper horizontally not vertically. Saves you the trouble to realigning your paper everytime.

Shopping Spree Part 3

Hehehe. Shopping Spree again. Jurong Point. Bought a few clothes again. 1 mini skirt =X and a few t-shirts and shirts. GSS is coming to an end. Sigh sigh. Well, it won't stop me from shopping nevertheless. Jurong Point has changed to much since I last went there about one plus month ago. The bus interchange has also shifted.

Had sakae sushi for buffet lunch today, because mum said she wanted to try it. We ate a lot, but I like the environment there. It's cooling except the noise level because there was some kind of class gathering there, and so you can imagine the noise level whenever students are put together. Still, we enjoyed lunch a lot. I've been craving for sakae for some time already and I finally manage to eat it. In fact, I think I may go again soon. Crave is still there.

It's the end of the holidays! How fast time flies. Will be starting my practicum next week. A little afraid of the challenges and new environment and yet looking forward to the new experience. Long day at work tomorrow. Sigh. Hard to get my motor running when I've been relaxing this whole week. But it's ok, Sunday's coming soon, and though I have to work in the earlier part, I can meet laogong after work. That's what pushing me forward.

Hair Treatment Session 2

Went down at 11am for my hair treatment today. She said that I was making progress and that my hair is not dropping as much now. Well, this is true except when I comb. I told her that and then she said I most probably used the wrong method to comb my hair. Our hair is the weakest and most fragile when it is wet. If time is not a factor, wait for the hair to dry first before combing. If it is, get a comb with big teeth and unknot slowly first before using a brush to brush through. Comb the bottom portion of the hair first followed by the top. This is what she taught me today. Hope it works. And so I've decided to listen to her and have therefore changed my brush and bought a big teeth comb.

Will be going out with mum again tomorrow. Going to the bank first to transfer my money into fixed deposit and then to Jurong Point for shopping. Hehe

I'm home!

Anyone missed me?

I really enjoyed myself at Genting. The company makes a big difference! This time, big group and the people are all very open and daring and fun loving. Outdoor themepark will never be fun without them. Screaming when we have not even reached the scary portion, and scaring people who are supposed to scare us in those somewhat dark and haunted places. Taking lots of pictures in interesting poses. All thanks to our creative director: TYX!

Weather wasn't too cold. Nice and cool, can do without a jacket, except night time when the temperature dips. Ate lots too. Didn't eat my cup corn. Sob sob. Unless you count as eating one spoonful. But I ate something very sinful. One big cup of honeydew with chocolate fondue. Slightly expensive but it is definitely nice!

All I can say is that this trip is indeed very refreshing a big break from lots of things where I get to really scream and laugh and just enjoy myself. Too bad it is just for a few days. How I wish it was longer.

This is how I look

Cutting my hair is such a big thing to me! Yes, and I am still whining. And so here's how I look like now, with a slightly shorter hair and fringe. My colleague said I looked sweet. Hmm.. I think it just doesn't look me. How do I look?

Image005

My relatives just went back because there was a Father's Day Celebration here, for my ah gong. Well, I shan't say more and expose the unpleasant side of my family. Haha

Am staying over at laogong's place tomorrow night and then Monday morning we will leave for Genting and so my next update may be on Wednesday. Genting here I come!!!!

Photographs!

Ok, met laogong just now at Bugis Village and we went shopping again. Hmm, ok I went shopping and he accompanied me. Bought a cap, 2 shirts, 3 pairs of earrings. I will post here some photographs of what I've bought during the GSS. Note: The photographs here are only about 30% of what I've bought.

Went to cut my hair this morning. Cut off about 3 inches. Heartache. Even the hairdresser was unwilling to cut for me. She say you leave your hair so long already, a few years, why cut off? Well, to prevent more hair from dropping, I'll do anything. Cut a fringe too. Wanted to cut like those japanese girls, with really thick and straight fringe but my hairdresser and I thought that it wouldn't really suit me. So I just have a thin fringe. Laogong seems to like my new hairstyle. No layers this time, just straight at the ends. No more 'V' shape. And with fringe. He says, cute. Previous hairstyle was, more on the pretty side. Hmmm. Don't think I'm pretty, but hearing him tell me that, I was also happy.

Pic 1: Cap, Bugis Village @ $12. Blacklisting that shop because I requested for a new cap but she thought we didn't notice and gave me the display cap. Well, I didn't want to make noise, and so I just left with it.
IMG_0372(1)

Pic 2: Shirt, Bugis Village @ $20 after bargaining (plus we are usual customers). Laogong liked the shirt and so I bought.
IMG_0376(1)

Pic 3: Shirt, Bugis Village @ $20 after bargaining. Same shop as shirt in Pic 2. I liked the shirt and the collar is unique.
IMG_0378(1)

Pic 4: Skirt, This Fashion @ Paya Lebar. Approximately $20. Simple and nice.
IMG_0379(1)

Pic 5: Shirt, Iora @ Wisma Atria. Approximately $30. Working wear.
IMG_0383(1)

Pic 6: Shirt, Iora @ Wisma Atria. Approximately $30. Unique design. Like the lighter and brighter green inside.

How's my taste? Hehe. Good I hope. With a little of mix and match, outcomes will be very different. From funky to classy to formal.

Hair Treatment

Just did my hair treatment today. Learnt quite a lot. The boss, Irene, analyzed my hair. One look she told me that I got oil scalp. True. Then she said that I always change shampoo. True too. Then look again say that when I apply conditioner, I always apply on my scalp. True. Unfortunately, those things that I am doing are all wrong. Irene's 2 daughters are also helping out. All professional trained and warned me that what they do for me at the treatment centre I cannot do at home because it is about acupoints and I may do it wrongly.

Learnt that I cannot keep changing shampoo. Certain shampoo can suit some, some doesn't. When washing hair, there must be a certain way to massage the scalp. How to wash off the shampoo matters too. She taught me the techniques today. Conditioner must never be applied to the scalp. Only to the ends of the hair.

She said that most of my pores at the top of the scalp are already closed (i.e: dead). Which means, hard to grow to new but she will try to grow some at my side. Massaged my scalp for me on those acupoints. Painful. But if it will help to grow new hair, I will tolerate the pain. It is to rub those vitamins from the vitamin solution she provided into the scalp.

Got to keep up with the treatment. For now, I will have to go down once a week. Well, distance for me is going to be a killer, but for the sake of my hair, I will tolerate. I've realized one thing which she say is quite true. The scalp is like the mud. The hair is like the flower. Everyone wants the flower to be nice and beauty. But people forget that if the mud is not in a good condition, the flower won't last long. Hair salons take care of the flower. She takes care of the mud. How true. It's going to take a lot of hard work and care for my hair. Can't afford to drop anymore. I will grow back my beautiful hair!

But before that, I'm going to cut my hair. Sigh. After keep my hair for 2 years and to such a length, I have to cut. Why? She told me that my scalp is weak. It can't hold on to my hair. So I have to lighten it. She recommended me to cut if I was ok with it. But she won't force me as she knows girls like long hair. Just I will trim it a little. Heartache, but I can always grow my hair back right?

Next appointment is next Thursday at 11am. It is so coincidental that they are going Genting too and coming back only on Wednesday. Who knows, I'll see them there! Haha.

To new hair and new hair life!

Manicure and Pedicure

Went to do my pedicure and express manicure today. Did pearl white background this time for both my finger nails and toe nails. Like it a lot. Paid only $10 today for everything. Well, I bought a package the other time round, and so I saved a lot of money in the long run. Now they are having promotion on some sea salt treatment. If anyone is interested their place is at Jurong East Entainment Centre. Maison de Nails. Price is reasonable, service is good and environment is quiet and private. Tried taking some pictures of my nails, but I couldn't get clear ones so I am not posting it up.

Here's a picture of mum's birthday cake from Lana Cake Shop. Yum yum, chocolate fudge cake. Are you salivating yet?

IMG_0365

Got to go work tomorrow to do a relief class for my student. One hour only. Such a waste of time. Then evening I'm going for my hair treatment with mummy. Friday, I've got a relief class for myself because I can't make it for piano class next week. 3-4pm. Saturday and Sunday work as per normal. Gheez! Keep going to Jurong East and that's the place I hate the most. I realized one thing in life, the more you try to avoid something or someone, the more you have to face it. Take my driving test, the more I don't want to see that tester, I have to see him again. I guess that's life.

Happy Birthday Laogong!

Today's post will be in total dedication to my one and only dearest laogong.

Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday to Lao Gong...
Happy Birthday to You

Laogong's 22 years old this year! Wow. Times passes by very fast. This year will also be our 3rd year together. Though we've been through ups and downs, I still treasure laogong a lot. Although he likes to irritate me, disturb me, tickle me, step on my foot unintentionally, have frequent debates with me, make me agree with him on matters I don't usually agree, yeah, I still love him. Love him for his protection and security and how he always keeps a look out for a blur sotong (me!)

Laogong may you always be happy and hope that you enjoyed your birthday today. I know, I still owe you your present. Muackz~

Eve of Laogong's Birthday

Today's the eve of laogong's birthday and together with his family, we went for dinner at Sakura at Science Centre Omnitheatre. Eating with his family is indeed interesting. 有说有笑. Time passes quickly and I end up eating a lot more than usual. I'm so full and super guilty! 3 buffets within 5 days. I better do some exercises before all these turn into additional fats.

I have a big confession. I have not bought laogong's birthday present! How?!! *Panics* I didn't buy because I don't know what to buy. Sheesh. Well, I know he wants a car, but can't expect me to get one for him right? Where am I gonna get the money? Haha, I feel so guilty for not getting anything. Put on hold first. When I see something he likes then give belated present. =X

When we were at Science Centre walking out, laogong and his family were playing at the Kinetics Garden. Wow. They looked so happy so carefree and I was standing there like a blur block. Never in my life have I really played like that. Like what most of my friends would tell me, "Marie, you have no childhood." Maybe because of my upbringing, I have gotten used to keeping to myself and building a block of ice around me. When I see people playing at the playground, I'll sit aside and keep quiet and just admire them being able to run about. I am too afraid to try to play new things. Except for the time when I tried to walk down the slide and ended up with a bump on my forehead and scratches on my arms and legs. My kids next time will definitely have all the chance they can get to learn from play. Suddenly I miss going to the zoo and night safari. When was the last time I've been to the zoo? God knows. Ages ago I suppose. Night safari, I've only been there once during Secondary 3. Laogong, bring me there leh. Hehe.

Bloated

I am so full and bloated now that I think I can just vomit everything out. Just had a very heavy dinner at Lotus Garden and drank lots and lots of water. Thai food is a little heaty but definitely shiok! I can already feel the impending sore throat. I think I ate too much because I was so hungry today. Didn't have lunch today, except for a hotdog bun and we had dinner at only 8pm.

Watched The Omen 666 today. I thought the show was quite good. Well, though a typical horror flick scenario, and I expected a better ending. Instead, I was left hanging in the air. Why do directors and writers like to keep the answer hanging in the air?! It's getting on my nerves. Anyway, I want to watch benchwarmers. Seems really funny.

Am considering cutting my hair short. For those who don't know my hair length, the length is until about my bra strap hook length. But recently, I've been dropping so much hair, that I think I am going bald. You can nearly see my scalp! When I mean short, I mean till about the length till the chin. But looking at the mirror, I think I look hideous with short hair. I like my hair long now but if cutting short helps to lessen my hair from dropping I may consider. Going for hair treatment this Thursday. Not Yunan or whatsoever. This is some place my mum goes too. She is now growing baby hair! Ok now it makes me feel old. No more hair dying or hair rebonding for me. At least not till I feel that it is necessary. Laogong's right about what these chemicals can do to my hair. Learnt my lesson well.

World Cup

World Cup 2006.
Germany Vs Costa Rica.
Final Score: 4-2

Bet many of you know this already. Well as I usually say, what is so great about 20 men (excluding refree and goalkeepers) trying to kick after one ball. But then again, so many people are attracted to this game called, soccer or football. Oh well, pardon this simple minded fool. Current on-going match: England Vs Paraguay. Parents are watching now.

Anyway tomorrow working till 4pm. Sheesh, have to do relief again. But nevermind, there's money. I am so blur. Banks have moved to a 5 days clearance week. I initially thought that it mean cheques will take 5 days before funds can be withdrawed. Only to find out that it meant that cheques will only be collected from Mondays to Fridays. This is better anyway. Means I can getting my piano pay soon and I can pay up my bills and for my genting trip.

Celebrating laogong's birthday with his buddies tomorrow. Planning is still in progress. So hard to plan when everyone keeps going missing. It's thai and chinese food at Lotus Garden Restaurant tomorrow. Ala carte buffet. Am looking foward to it! Putting on weight again. Haha.

Shopping Spree Part 2

More shopping! Shop till you drop. But obviously I have not dropped yet. Am still going strong. Bought a few more clothes today. One spaghetti top, one cardigan (very nice!!) and a few skirts, some of which mum and I will share. Well, mum paid. Total cost $225 after 10% discount. My this fashion card has been put to good use.

We were at This Fashion, Paya Lebar from 3.30pm to about 6.00pm and still not enough time. But we had to go because dad reached already and traffic was heavy so he could not wait for us. But I can see that mum is slowly changing her fashion taste, of course to some more stylish. But I have a hard time tearing her away from her normal colours of black, grey and brown. At least, designs are changing.

Today's the last episode of Women of Times in Channel 8. And as usual, mediacorp's ending is totally horrible! Downright embarrassing. How many times they have a good plot, but the whole story is destroyed because of the stupid ending. Their ending = no ending. Hanging in the air. Maybe they think that that way, viewers can in their mind, select their own perfect ending. But, sadly, I don't think this is the case. Watching Da Chang Jin is so much more fulfilling.

Was chatting with my friend Huihui from SP Choir yesterday. Made me miss my old days when I was still there, not as a president. Everyone was still my friend. We went out, we joked, we skated, we ktv-ed and such. Everyone's so scattered now and I've drifted away from some of my friends ever since I was the president. If I could turn back time, I would reject the post. Sigh. Anyway, I wish that all of them are doing well in their studies and job. Sadly, the choir now is so political that I wondering whether I should go back to support them. Although I do not know the actual scenario, but I still don't understand why would they want a conductor who has put in so much effort to rebuilding the choir, organizing competitions and tours to go. Disheartening. Oh well...

Mum's Birthday!

It's mum's 46th birthday today. Gave her her present last night at midnight. She used it today already and it does look good on her. Gave her a bag. It wasn't an expensive gift but well, it's the thought that counts right? Hehe. Dad actually forgot to order mum's birthday from NaNa Cake Shop. Nearly drove me nuts. Wanted to hammar him. Haha, of course I didn't. Dad called the cake shop and luckily, they said that he can come and collect later. Chocolate Fudge Cake. Yum Yum Yum.

Dad, Mum, Bro, Weini, Laogong and I. We went for dinner at Tung Lok Restaurant wasn't up to my standard for the pricing. Service wasn't too bad, except for an unfriendly waitress. But I enjoyed the deserts. We felt that New Park Hotel - Hai Xiang Restaurant is definitely better or maybe River View Hotel. Anyway, dad seems to be in a happy mood today. We took lots of photos and he was smiling in every single picture.

After dinner we took a short walk at Clarke Quay. It's been some time since I was there. Or did I really ever explore that place? I don't think so. Everytime, I just walk pass there. Maybe I should ask laogong to bring me there to really look and see around. Took some photos there too, as if we were tourists.

Attached 2 photos. First one is my mum and I. Second is me and laogong at Clarke Quay.

Mum doesn't look 46 right? Haha. Anyway, we will be going shopping tomorrow at This Fashion @ Paya Lebar! Looking forward to it!

好烦

It's mum's birthday tomorrow. Finally after so much hoo-ha about where to go, we will be going to one of the restaurants from the Tung Lok Group at Liang Court. Why so much hoo-ha? It goes like this. Initially, I suggested going for Dim Sum because my brother said he wanted to go and my mum and dad were agreeable. I suggested going for KTV after that. Mum was agreeable. And so, I thought, that it was settled.

However, a few days later, mum also wanted laogong to come along. So , changed to dinner at Straits Kitchen @ Grand Hyatt. I was looking forward to going. Anyway if this is the case, it means brother's girlfriend is coming along too. Mum suggested going for sushi dinner buffet. Brother didn't know. I suggested to mum that we could Thai or Indonesian food. Great. His girlfriend doesn't take spicy food, doesn't take seafood and doesn't eat this and that. Brother said he didn't want International Buffet, he prefers ala carte buffet.

After searching for a few days and giving my suggestions, mum today finally decided on this restaurant. Now, laogong's pissed or irritated or what I don't know. I don't know why either. I figured it is the travelling. Sigh. What can I do?

I'm so pissed with my brother too. Sleep till 2+pm today, I can close one eye. Wake up complain hungry. He made instant noodles for himself and didn't clear up his mess, even though it was as simple as throwing the empty packet into the bin. Had to clear it up for him. 4+pm he went out. 5+pm, I went to the living room only to see his bedroom light on. I recalled hearing he leave the house but was puzzled and thought I heard wrongly. Check the whole house and no one in sigh, except myself. He didn't off his light before going out. Excuse me, but I need to say this, "WTF!" Damn irritating. Parents see him as a very filial son. Pui! Says he helps around at home. But excuse me, who has been mopping the floor, keeping clothes and washing all their dishes? What does he do? NOTHING.

He'd better grow up soon..

Bitchings

Here's the long awaited list of mine, bitching about things I hate about Singaporeans.

  1. Escalator. Why can't people just keep to the left if they are not walking up the escalator? They just can't follow signs. No courtesy at all.
  2. Umbrellas. Have you ever seen people carry the umbrella by tucking it under their armpit thus making the umbrella in a horizontal position. And when they turn and walk, people must keep some distance around them if not they'll get hit by the umbrella. Totally inconsiderate I must say.
  3. Leaning on holding poles in the train. Imagine peak hours and the train is crowded. You are standing and looking for a pole to grab on so that you will not lose balance and near by there is a pole but you can't hold it because someone is leaning on it and you 不好意思 to tell that person off. So you just try to balance yourself as best as possible. These people are downright selfish.
  4. Talking loudly on their mobile phones. Excuse those who have to talk loudly because the background noise is loud. I know there's no crime here for speaking loudly, but excuse me, there is still no need to let the whole world know what your conversation is about.
  5. Service. Talking about Singapore being a tourist attraction and such. Sadly to sad, the service provided in Singapore is a far cry from being world's best. Take this example that I just experienced a few days ago. Suntec was having the IT fair. All the way from out of citylink, there was a human traffic jam. Nevermind about this, as I will excuse Suntec's management as this is outside their building. But in Suntec, just shopping itself, there is a human traffic jam along the isles. At the very least, what Suntec's management could have done is to send a security guard to do some traffic control. Everyone was practically squeezing through. Wonder how many women got molested. I believe the problem was there already for a few hours and nothing is done. Imagine tourists seeing this. Where will all those talk about Singapore being a global country and such be put to?
  6. Ok, so relating to the above problem, people also don't bother to give way. It was takes a few people to go against the flow of "traffic" to block one direction. Selfish.
  7. Overly protective parents. I love kids. But, I hate parents who are overly protective. People in the education industry are always in the spotlight. Teachers, principals. No coporal punishment. Ok, I agree that when we punish a student, he should not be punished in a way that will deprive him of his learning, like making him stand outside the class. However, standing at the back of the class for a short amount of time should be alright, in my opinion. Now, if teachers have to close 1 eye to everything, how are we going to teach students respect to authority and how to expect lessons to go on smoothly? Parents call, teachers in the limelight, teacher's job on the line. I come from the era where my hands were hit with the wooden ruler when I didn't do homework or forgot a book. And I must say, it did teach me to be more responsible and to respect my teachers and peers. You can hardly see that now.
  8. Of course on the other hand, you also have over indulgent parents. Ever seen children screaming and shouting and jumping and swinging in trains, buses and shopping centres? Yes, it is nice to see the kids in their own little trouble free world. But did the parents ever think whether it is disturbing other people? Some let their kids step all over the seats with the dirty shoes or even jump on the seats, causing people to feel vibrations which can be totally irritating.
  9. Teens. Public display of affection aka PDA. During my time, kissing and holding hands is already considered PDA. Now, you see teens necking and practically making out, in a crowded bus or train. One word. Shameless.
  10. Waiting for a taxi without a taxi stand. Ever experienced someone who just suddenly walk somewhere further up, so that if a taxi comes, it will stop for that person first? Did you feel like cursing and swearing at that person? Well, I felt. Unfortunately, in Singapore, people are like that. To each his own.

There are so much more that I would like to bitch about but shall stop here today. If everyone will play their part of being considerate and courteous, only then we will have a friendlier environment.

Exam results are out today. Scored 1A-, 3B+, 1B and 1B- with an average of 3.76. Definitely, a big improvement as compared to last semester, though no A+ for my Math this time. Overall, it is still acceptable to me. I guess, another wish come true. Will continue to work hard for next semester. Got to aim for the degree program.

Big Open Eye World (大开眼界)

As the title goes, I indeed have an eye opener yesterday night. Stay over at laogong's place and we went out at 12.30am to meet his friends. Waited for them and we discussed where to go. We decided to go to Geylang. I was a first time for me, though I am a Singaporean to really set foot in Geylang to see the oldest profession in duty. Our main aim though was to go there for soya bean milk, soya bean curd and doughstick. It was a little disappointing as I felt that there was nothing great about it.

Anyway, they drove and I sat in the car to look around. Wow. Skimpy and really short skirts. Whatever need not be covered is practically revealed! Alley after alley. Hotel and massage palours. There seems to be no lack of night "activity". After that they drove to Joo Chiat. They wanted to see vietnamese girls. Unfortunately for them, there was no one around. Was already about 3.50am when we left and headed back.

Slept around nearly 5am and woke up at 10am today. Laogong, laogong's sis and I went KTV again. Was sleepy and so didn't really sing much. Went for the IT show at Suntec. Total disappointment. They were also having a book fair there. Walked around a while, before deciding to go Bugis, because Suntec was so packed that we could hardly walk and I was so irritated at the management of Suntec that I wanted to leave that place.

I have so many things to complain about Singaporeans and their attitude. But I shall not put it into the blog today as I am feeling really sleepy now and am too lazy to talk about that now. Hmm, yeah, so that's about it!

More blabberings...

Mum has a super duper powerfully big bruise on her arm. She went for MRI scan today and they injected her with some liquid using a big needle. She didn't apply enough pressure after the injection and now her arm is swollen. It is giving me goosebumps. I don't even dare to look at it. Makes my heartache. Hope mum recovers soon. Even my dad was shocked by the bruise. Yucks.

Just bought another pair of shoe today for $16.80. It's unique. Very japanese like and I love it a lot. Got it at Jurong east. I am itching to go Paya Lebar This Fashion again. Help. I'm a shopaholic! Itching to go KTV again too.

Am going to stay over at laogong's place tomorrow night. And Sunday will be going to Suntec for the IT show and I think I'll get some shopping done too. What shall I buy for mum? It's mum's birthday next thursday. We'll be going to Straits Kitchen (if I didn't get the name wrong) and Grand Hyatt Hotel for dinner, coming thursday.

So if I do not have the chance to update tomorrow, next update will be on Sunday!

What's your stand?

Laogong's sis called me just now asking whether I was going down to the tuition centre she works in to interview for a part time tutor. I can't decide.

Why I want?

  • Interest and passion. Gets me extra training so that I can apply them in schools. And of course, just for the love of it.
  • Money. While I am still young, earn more, save more so that in future, I can get a house, get married and support my parents and family.
  • Make myself busy. Well, to certain extend, I guess I am one person who can't stand boredom. I must have something to do. But this will only be applicable during my holidays from NIE and pre-projects period.

Why I am hesitating?

  • Time. It will not be wise for me to take it up now and then kill myself during project and exam periods. I believe that a teacher should not as and when take off and disrupt the students' learning.

What should I do? I want it yet I'm worried.

Plans for the rest of my holidays

It's the end of the month again. Time flies very fast. Been having my holiday for about a month already and here's some plans for the remaining of my june holidays.
1. Gaming: WoW
2. Mum's Birthday (8th June)
3. Laogong's Birthday (13th June)
4. Vivien's Birthday (18th June)
5. Genting Trip (19th to 22nd June)

Some other events lined up is shopping and such.

Today's piano lesson was good even though I didn't practice. She said that I improved a lot. Haha, but anyway, I will try to maintain that standard and not drop. I can't delay taking my diploma exam.

Got a bruise near my knuckles. You won't believe why. I think yesterday, while out shopping, I hang those clothes on my hand and it was probably too heavy and it pressed rather hard. Yea yea I know, accident prone me.

Ok well tomorrow's another slack day for me. Will probably be gaming. Earning money in game is so difficult.
